About CSWJ

Mission: To promote Catholic Social Teaching on the rights of workers and the indispensable role that unions play in securing justice (1) for workers and their families, (2) in the workplace, and (3) for the universal common good. Purpose:
1. To engage in scholarly research and publication on Catholic Social Teaching as it applies to workers’ rights and social responsibilities.
2. To work with all parties to recognize the right of workers to freely join a union of their choosing without fear of reprisal from any party.
3. To insure that workers’ rights are respected in union organizing campaigns at all institutions and corporations.
4. To stand in solidarity with workers on every continent who may be shunned, or fired, or jailed, or tortured, or even killed for the advocacy of social justice and the right to organize.
Governance: CSWJ will be governed by a Steering Committee. The SC will elect its own officers and supervise the writing of a Constitution. Affiliations:  CSWJ will collaborate with the Catholic Labor Network, Interfaith Worker Justice, Pax Romana, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, Network, Pax Christi, The National Center for the Laity, and labor unions and other organizations dedicated to social justice.
